In 1984 Trevor Aspeling established the Aliwal Road Group as a small practice offering tax, accounting and financial management services. As the practice grew, additional services such as financial planning, investment consulting, estate planning, wills, trusts, the administration of deceased estates and auditing were added.
The Aliwal Road Group has offices in Cape Town and is well placed to offer individuals and businesses personalised and complete financial services that are provided by professionals with the necessary qualifications and levels of experience and skill.

In the early 1980s Trevor, a senior lecturer in Financial Management and Taxation in postgraduate studies at a Cape Town University, was being approached by individuals for help with tax advice and tax administration. This led, over time, to the formation of the Aliwal Road Group of Companies. Trevor continues to help clients with the management of their finances, their taxes, their trusts, close corporations and private companies.

Chris is a Chartered Accountant and has been with the Aliwal Road Group since 1997. With his previous experience in commerce and industry he is able to offer businesses sound financial and tax advice. Chris is also actively involved in assisting individual clients with their investment decisions and financial planning. In addition he has overall responsibilty for our audit division.
RICHARD FINCHAM, CFP®

Richard matriculated from Kingswood College in Grahamstown in 1996 and completed a B. Com (Hons) in Business Management at Stellenbosch University. He joined another financial services company in 2005, where he quickly proved himself as a top advisor. He is registered with the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa and holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® accreditation, which he studied for and earned through the University of the Free State. Richard joined the Aliwal Road Group in January 2015 and beside his extensive financial planning knowledge he adds particular expertise to our offerings in protecting our clients against risks including those associated with business, life (funding families in the event of the premature death of a breadwinner), disability and loss of income.
