Medical and GAP cover schemes have announced contribution increases for next year, with most medical aid provider increases ranging from 7% to 12%. GAP cover providers’ increases have been smaller than the increases announced at the end of 2016 but are still higher than the increases announced by medical aids.

At the end of each year clients have the option to choose what plan they would like to be on for the following year. It is important for clients not to just choose their options on price but on the cover that is most needed by them and the members of their family. One should apply one’s mind and careful consideration and thought should go into this decision. Price is important but should not be the ultimate deciding factor.

Changing from one scheme to another (e.g. Bonitas to Discovery) is not as easy as changing an option within your existing scheme as the receiving scheme may impose waiting periods on any pre-existing conditions that you or any of your family currently suffer from.

If you are travelling overseas for the holidays make sure that you have notified the scheme of your departures dates and countries that you are visiting.

If you feel that you need advice and help in order to make an informed decision, please don’t hesitate to set up an appointment so that we can assist.
