Apparently, all good things must come to an end. Your pending retirement at the end of May 2019 is one of those!
We at the Aliwal Road Group have been privileged to have had you working with us as a partner, colleague and friend since 1998. The generous sharing of your wealth of experience, your knowledge and wise counsel has been hugely significant in helping our clients, and giving direction to those of us who work with you. Your influence among us has helped us understand that any business plan should always seek to go beyond a profit motive only – a reminder that integrity and relationships remain an important part of any business to succeed. Thank you too for agreeing to make yourself available to consult (beyond your official retirement date) with your clients and with us, should the need arise.
We have it on good authority that Jacquie is not looking forward to having you under her feet for an extra eight hours a day so please remind her that she should feel free to pack you off to the Aliwal Road Group for a cup of coffee, a beer or a game of golf when she has “just had enough”.
John, while this is the official “goodbye” note and though we will miss your leg-pulling and the laughs in the boardroom and in the passages, we would like you to know that you and Jacquie will always be part of the Aliwal Road Group family.
